Government's actions without society's support cannot have the expected results: Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai for Info-Prim Neo [ - What is the Republic of Moldova for you?] - The Republic of Moldova for me is a European country, the image of which and the role in the European structures have still to shape. No doubt as to this European identity, however, as a transition country, there are still many aspects in which we still have to assert ourselves in the world – in terms of culture, society, economy. There are no simple solutions to step up this process, yet the consistence in following the European vector will certainly bring results. In the personal plane, Moldova is my motherland and all my aspirations for the future are closely linked to the country's fate and to the wishes of my fellow citizens. [ - Which are the biggest successes of independent Moldova and which of them can be referred to the period in which you have acted as a Prime-Minister or you were in some other position from which you could decide on the country's fate?] - I prefer the successes to speak for themselves. Though they say there is no place for modesty in politics, I will say that, as a member of a team, I was very glad for the country's successes, regardless if those were domestic economic performances or appreciations on the external plane. [ - Which are independent Moldova's biggest failures and for which of them you assume your responsibility as a Prime-Minister or as any other top official?] - The fact that my fellow citizens do not enjoy living conditions comparable with the European ones is a thing hurting me and I consider it to be a personal challenge to bring the Moldovan living standards as close as possible to the ones from the developed countries. As long as this is accomplished only partially, I will consider the remaining part a failure. In my position of a Prime-Minister I would not detach from any of the failures, perhaps, short of the ones resulting from natural calamities. [ - How long would it take and how can Moldova get close to the living standard of a country with comfortable living for its citizens and what can be done in this respect during your mandate?] - The present Cabinet's program “Progress and Integration” provides for a series of actions, which, once accomplished, will lead to bettering the living standard. The question is about those 5 priorities from the Program – Enhancing the quality of the ruling act, Consolidating the democratic institutions, Insuring the country's security and integrity, Enhancing the economic competitiveness and Promoting social and regional inclusion. Speaking about the living standard in Moldova, as compared with other countries in Europe, the Government's action will have to be supported by whole society, otherwise they won't yield the expected result.
