Government used up reserve fund for 2008 in five months, say political party leaders
In the first five months of this year, the Government has used up the financial resources allocated in the reserve fund for the entire 2008. The accusation was made by the Liberal Party (PL), Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement from the party.
The statement cites the report on the distribution and utilization of the Government’s reserve resources in 2008 made public by the Ministry of Finance. In addition to the 46 million lei contained in the reserve fund, the Government, headed by the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM), spent about 16.5 million lei for different purposes that are unjustified, insignificant and discriminatory towards the Moldovan people, the statement says.
According to PL, the money was spent on the trips made by senior officials abroad, to carry out activities that are important to PCRM only and on cultural activities. “The state budget clearly stipulates how much money should be spent on cultural activities, while the using up of the financial resources has led to a rise in the internal state debts,” PL says.
The Government is accused of incapacity to transparently and fairly manage the state financial funds. The Liberal Party says that the money spent by the Communists could be used to support the underprivileged families, the persons affected by the drought and torrential rain and other socially vulnerable groups of people. It demands that the administration provide public explanations over this.
