Government to create modern centers for zootechnics
The government intends to create modern centers for zootechnics after in the early 90s the majority was destroyed across the country. The executive wants the new enterprises to be competitive on the meat market in terms of price and quality, and to fully ensure the consumer demand and export volume.
The “Moldcoop” Union will also create for its part a series of agricultural co-operative societies specialized in collecting, selling, processing as well as offering credits to the pork producing enterprises.
Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev has pointed out during the government meeting that it is of great importance to continuously improve the sector of zootechnics that is a valuable constituent for the Moldovan agro-industrial development as a whole. Vasile Tarlev mentioned the insufficiency of the previously implemented actions of the bodies specialized in selling meat, and requested solid tactics to ensure a more efficient development of the swine sector.
Tarlev has also mentioned the necessity for developing the leasing system when purchasing pedigree livestock as well as purchasing technological equipment, exempting from VAT for networks of farms.
Anatolie Gorodenco, the minister of Agriculture and Food Industry said that due to the government actions the decline registered up to 2001 in the swine sector has been stopped. The minister has also talked about creating the state enterprise “Moldsuinhibrid” focused on regeneration of the swine genetic resources and on the process of subvention of the mentioned sector, with the MDL 15 mln provided by the state budget.
