Government seeks money for Giurgiulesti Free International Port
The Government is looking for additional financial resources in order to fulfill the commitments assumed as part of the Free International Port Giurgiulesti project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the Government entrusted the Ministry of Finance with the task to identify 16 million lei for increasing the authorized capital of the state-owned company Moldelectrica so as to build the overhead power line of 110kV on the route: Vulcanesti district – Reni – power station 110/10kV Giurgiulesti.
15 million lei will be allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Road Management for raising the authorized capital of the state-run company Fluvial Port Ungheni so as to construct the Passenger Port Giurgiulesti. The Ministry of the Interior will receive 30.6 million lei, including 8 million lei for erecting a building for the firefighters and rescuers unit “Giurgiulesti” and 22.6 million lei for providing the unit with the necessary equipment.
The given financial resources were not planned in the budget law for 2008. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance is to submit proposals for modifying the law.
According to the investment agreement regarding the Giurgiulesti Free International Port, the Government is to create equitable conditions for the investor and provide assistance in implementing the project. The oil terminal Giurgiulesti was put in commission last autumn. The first symbolic stone at the foundation of the passenger port was laid recently.
