Government promises an average wage of MDL 2015 in 2007 and USD 300 in 2009
The government forecasts for 2007 an average national wage of MDL 2015, according to the brought up to date macroeconomic indexes for 2007+2009. In this way, the wage quantum will increase by 18.5% compared with the planned average wage for 2006 (MDL 1700).
The proposed quantum of the average wage includes an increase of employees’ salaries working in the budgetary field as a result of implementing the stages of the new wage system, which was approved in March 2006, as well as a result of the wage policy measures stipulated by the Medium-Term Framework of Expenses for 2007-2009 for the real sector of the economy.
PM, Vasile Tarlev, mentioned on Wednesday, October 18 at the meeting of the Government that the present objectives included in the Governmental plan for 2009 show an average national wage of USD 300.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Igor Dodon told the press that this is an approximate level, which does not mean that next year the wage will already be higher. This level was approved for the estimation of social insurances for 2007, PM declared, mentioning that the growth rhythms registered during 2006 and the dynamic of the previous years shows that this level will be reached.
According to Tarlev, the level of USD 300 can also be achieved. He mentioned that many employers afford to pay such wages but they often do not declare it publicly.
According to the PM, the increase of wages in the budgetary field in the first 7 months of 2006 constituted about 40%. According to him, the implementation of the legislative provisions regarding the payment of employees from this field will allow a significant increase of the wages during the next years.
