Government plants saplings in Malaiești. 26m trees planted during afforestation campaign

All the ministries within the Government will plant over 40 hectares of forest in Mălăiești village of Orhei district. Red oak, maple and sycamore seedlings will be planted, and each ministry will take care of an area, Minister of Environment Sergiu Lazarencu said in a live broadcast from the site, IPN reports.

The official noted that today, November 16, trees will be planted in all districts of the country. He called on the citizens to join in. Those who are undecided can enter Moldsilva Agency’s website and choose one of the 400 areas covered by the planting campaign.

"It is important what we leave behind. Let's leave together a greener and more forested Moldova. I'm waiting for you all at the planting event!", said the minister.

The "Government Plants #GenerațiaPădurii" event is part of the National Program for the Extension and Rehabilitation of Forests, within which 145,000 hectares are to be afforested during the next 10 years.

New forests will be planted in the northern, southern and central parts of the country, on an area of over 940 hectares. In total, over 26 million spalings will be planted during this autumn's afforestation campaign.
