The government will grant prizes totaling 100 thousand lei for the results achieved by raions for the harvest of grains and vegetables of the first group in 2006. As such, the 1st place, the Government diploma of 1st degree and the prize of 50 thousand lei will be granted to the Briceni raion. The 2nd place, the 2nd degree diploma and the prize of 30 thousand lei will go to Donduseni, and the 3rd place, the 3rd degree diploma and 20 thousand lei – to Glodeni. The money will be allocated to the raion councils by the Government reserve fund. This year’s autumn wheat and barley harvest was appreciated as modest. 667 tons of autumn wheat has been collected, compared to 1 million tons in 2005. The productivity also fell, from 30.4 q/ha last year to 27 q/ha. The experts said that, despite the difficult climacteric conditions in the fall of 2005 and this summer, the total wheat harvest was good, and of high quality. The Mineral Reserves, Public Acquisitions and Material Help Agency will purchase 30-35 tons of food wheat for the state reserve. Wheat which contains 18-20% of gluten will be purchased at a price of 1.6 lei/kg. For an index of 22-25%, the price will constitute 1.9 lei, and above 25% - 2.2 lei. Currently, the market price of the alimentary wheat in the R. Moldova is 1.5 lei.
