Government last year spent over 145,000 lei on flowers and floral arrangements

The Government in 2018 spent more than 145,000 lei from the state budget on flowers and floral arrangements. This is almost twice more than in 2017, when 76,800 lei was used for the purpose, and seven times more than in 2016, when a sum of 20,000 lei went on such purchases.

This is said in a response to an inquiry made by ACUM MP Maria Ciobanu in Parliament on June 25, IPN reports. The MP expressed then her bewilderment, saying the price of a bouquet of fresh flowers delivered to the Premier was equal to the monthly salary of ancillary workers.

In the first half of 2019, 54,700 lei was spent on buying flowers.

The Government’s response also says that Prime Minister Maia Sandu asked to terminate the contracts for the supply of flowers signed by the former government.
