Government has cancelled restrictions on forwarding precious objects and jewelry through postal parcels
In the near future, Moldovans will have the possibility to send and receive postal parcels containing objects and jewelry from precious metals and stones. This has become possible after changes have been applied to the laws regarding the import and export of precious items by natural persons from Moldova.
According to the Ministry of Information Development, Mr. Vladimir Molojen, the change to the 5th article of the mentioned law was necessary in order to comply with the international standards.
The minister of Internal Affairs expressed his discontent with the law, as he is worried the changes could encourage the smuggling of precious metals and jewelry.
In 2004 Moldova ratified the Universal Postal Convention from Beijing, which allows the shipment of valuables in postal parcels with declared value.
