The Cabinet approved the program to distribute the money from the Road Fund for national public roads in 2023. It goes to 1.48 billion lei for maintaining and repairing engineering constructions and national public roads with a total length of 5,951 km, IPN reports.
“The available money is distributed depending on the real necessities. The costs are prioritized as a result of the examination of the state of the whole network of national roads, with greater emphasis on the actions to improve movement by improving the state of the roadway and traffic safety,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija.
Of the allocated funds, 828 million lei will go to maintain national public roads, 534 million lei – to execute extensive repair works and engineering constructions, while the rest of the amount – to maintain bridges, perform projection and assessment works, purchase equipment, etc.
Last year, the Road Fund totaled 1.81 billion lei and 1.63 billion lei of this amount was used.
