The ban on entry into Russia imposed on a number of MPs of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) shows that what the Moldovan authorities do is appropriate, the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said.
According to him, the authorities will further take action to protect the citizens from disinformation, fake news and malign influence coming from outside.
As to the banned media platforms, Daniel Vodă said everyone knows that these polluted the information space, disseminated false messages and narratives that the country’s citizens do not embrace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation imposed entry bans on 11 PAS MPs. The decision was communicated to Moldova’s Ambassador in Moscow Lilian Darii on November 20. This was a reaction to the Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service’s decision to block six TV channels and 30 websites that Russia could have used to manipulate the local elections in Moldova.
