The Government has earmarked additional resources for the European Village Program, and also for local authorities to help them pay salaries. The decision revising the 2023 State Budget was approved in the Government’s extraordinary meeting on Friday evening.

Minister of Finance Petru Rotaru stated that the measure was needed in order to fulfill contractual obligations under European Village Program projects and also to partially cover personnel expenses incurred by selected local authorities.

The measure means in particular that 114 million lei will be reallocated from the Government’s Emergency Fund to the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. Additionally, 22.8 million lei from the 2023 State Budget will go to local budgets to pay salaries.
