Government allocates 270 additional scholarships for youngsters of Transnistria
The Government approved on Wednesday’s sitting, June 28, the additional allocation in 2006 of 270 scholarships, financed from the budget, for young people coming form the Tranistrian region.
According to Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, last year, the Government has provided with 250 scholarships the graduates of pre-university institutions from Transnistria. The initiative to increase this year the number of scholarships comes from the Ministry of Education and Sport, Tarlev noted.
190 scholarships will be offered at higher education institutions and 80 – at schools.
The head of the University Institutions Department of the Ministry of Education and Youth, Galina Bulat, noted that for these scholarships all young persons of Transnistria may apply, including those who live in localities controlled by the separatist regime.
The matriculation in higher-education institutions will take place this year, as the last year, on the basis of the marks of graduation exams in lyceums or general schools, plus the mean during 11 school years or 3 lyceum years and the average of the 4 profile exams. The matriculation applications may be submitted from July 1 to 15, and the results will be announced on July 20.
This year the higher education institutions of RM will provide 7,645 scholarships with budget financing, number increased by 660 units compared with 2005. 70% of the places reserved for lyceum graduates will be provided for matriculation of students from rural localities and 30% - urban ones. For general school leavers the proportion is of 90% and 10%.
