Government advises caution during canicular weather
The Government advises people to be cautious during the hot and sultry days, to avoid lengthy exposure to the sun between 11am and 5pm, drink at least 1.5 liter of water daily to prevent dehydration, and avoid drinking alcohol and excessively cooled beverages, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a circular issued today, the Government instructed the local authorities to take measures to prevent fires caused by high temperatures, advising the organization of patrols for this purpose. Additionally, farming vehicles and equipment should be retrofitted with devices like spark arrestors and extinguishers to be able to respond to fires.
Employers are advised to adjust the working hours to the weather conditions and avoid work in open air, especially in such areas as constructions and farming, in particular during critical hours. The Government also reminded the employers about the existing legislation concerning work in hot weather, which provides for permanent ventilation of work spaces, plenty of water and access to showers.
