Valuable objects of the national treasury belonging to Mihai Eminescu, such as the golden watch, signet ring and original photos of the poet, are on display at the documentary exhibition “Mihai Eminescu” that was opened at the National Museum of Arts of Moldova on May 7, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The objects were brought to Chisinau on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the National Museum of Arts of Moldova and the Romanian Literature Museum of Iasi. “The exhibits include original volumes of the bard, articles from literature magazines, journalistic materials, the brooch and handbag embroidered with silver thread of Veronica Micle.
“The documentary exhibition “Mihai Eminescu” was staged in Chisinau for the first time, at the suggestion of Minister of Culture Boris Focsa. The Ministry of Culture supported financially this exhibit,” the director of the National Museum of Arts Tudor Zbarnea said in a news conference.
Boris Focsa said that the time is merciless and when everything passes away, culture remains. “It is very important that the Moldovans come and see these objects so as to create ties between our cultures,” he stated. The minister refused to say how much the organization of the exhibition cost, but said that a rather large sum was spent from the Ministry’s budget. He also said that a similar exhibit may be staged next year.
“The value of these objects resides in the fact that they were touched by the poet and still keep Mihai Eminescu’s energy,” said the director of the Romanian Literature Museum of Iasi Daniel Corbu. The last signature put by the former Romanian culture minister of the dismissed Ungureanu Cabinet was for mounting this exhibition in Moldova.
The exhibit will be open for visitors until May 15.
