The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu reiterated Wednesday, after the meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, that the PL will not vote for Vlad Filat as Prime Minister, stressing that the head of state must do everything possible to avoid the early elections, IPN reports.
“For me it’s not so important who will hold the post of Premier. It is important that we do not discredit the Alliance as we will lose the parliamentary elections of 2014. With Filat we will lose the elections and we will thus not vote for him. I do not vote against Filat and others like him. I vote for Moldova’s integration into the EU,” stated Ghimpu.
He said he will ask Nicolae Timofti to take all the measures needed to avoid early elections.
At the same time, he said the PLDM prepared for early elections. According to Ghimpu, Filat urged him during a discussion not to attack each other during the election campaign that will precede the early elections. Mihai Ghimpu underlined that the early elections would lead to the destruction of Moldova’s European road and called on Filat and the PLDM to avoid them.
