The Municipality today conferred the title of Honorary Citizen of Chisinau on actor, comedian and poet Gheorghe Urschi ahead of his 66th birthday, IPN reports.

Gheorghe Urschi was born on 18 January 1948 in the village of Cotiujenii Mari, Soldanesti district. In 2012 the famous comedian was awarded the state title of People's Artist in recognition of his work and contribution to the development of satire and acting.

The Municipality of Chisinau has 45 honorary citizens. The title comes with a host of entitlements, such as a 50% discount on utility bills, fare-free trolleybus and bus trips, and free admission to the cultural events organized by the municipality.
