Germany to intensify dialogue with Moldova on visa liberalization

Germany will intensify dialogue with Moldova concerning visa liberalization, acknowledging the considerable effort made by Moldova in this direction. This is one of the conclusions formulated by the German delegation at a meeting of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations in Berlin, which was also attended by Moldova's Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release from the Moldovan MFA, participants discussed the disagreements existing in Bundestang, the lower house of the German parliament, regarding visa liberalization for the countries in EU's eastern neighborhood. Iurie Leanca asked the German politicians to individualize decisions for each state in the Eastern Partnership arrangement, depending on the progress towards meeting the EU's recommendations and requirements concerning visa liberalization. Iurie Leanca assured that Moldova would further make every effort to implement its Action Plan on visa liberalization in the shortest time possible. Philipp Missfelder, foreign affairs spokesperson for the Christian-Democrats in the German Bundestag, informed the Moldovan delegation of the decision to visit Moldova next April in the company of a large group of German businesspeople, with a view to examining business opportunities. The event brought together around 170 high-level representatives from German political and business circles, including 60 Bundestag members, ambassadors to Germany, German MFA representatives, and managers of Germany's largest companies, including Metro Group, KPMG, Thyssen Krupp, SAP, Nordsteam, Südzucker, Daimler, Baier, BASF, Volkswagen, Rewe, Air Berlin, TUI, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, etc.
