Germany supports the Republic of Moldova with over €33 million

Germany supports the Republic of Moldova with more than €33 million. Through the German Development Bank (KfW), the Republic of Moldova will receive affordable long-term financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. The investments will support the modernization and expansion of production capacities and will help create hundreds of jobs in the private sector, a German Embassy press release quoted by IPN said.

"Improving the living conditions of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and strengthening local businesses as the country's economic pillar are the main objectives of our development cooperation", said Ambassador Margret Uebber.

One of the projects funded by the German Federal Foreign Office will support communities in the border regions between Moldova and Ukraine in the provision of drinking water. Other initiatives will aim to modernize public services to become more efficient and accessible, supporting the administration in the process of European integration.

A new anti-corruption project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, will also support efforts to fight corruption by ensuring equitable access to essential services such as education and health.

Germany is also helping to reduce energy costs for Moldovan citizens by expanding the energy efficiency and renewable energy project co-funded by the EU and Norway.

The support was announced on December 16, when the Secretary General of the Government, Artur Mija, met Ambassador Margret Uebber. The SME promotion mechanism, the Fund for Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth of Moldova (FACEM), managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), will receive a grant of €20 million, in addition to the existing grant of €10.7 million.
