While in Chisinau on a visit, the Minister of Defense of Germany Christine Lambrecht said Germany is ready to augment its assistance to ensure training and the supply of armament needed to cope with the current situation at military level. The statements were made after a meeting with her Moldovan counterpart Anatolie Nosatyi on Saturday, IPN reports.
Christine Lambrecht said it is very important to step up the Moldovan-German cooperation. “We surely monitor the situation in the Republic of Moldova, with the special challenges it experiences now,” said the German official, noting that they also intend to offer drones but more details will be provided when the discussions and procedures are over.
For his part, Anatolie Nosatyi said that Germany constantly offered support to the Republic of Moldova through training, logistics, assistance in developing effective ammunition and weapons management. In time, the assistance provided by the Ministry of Defense of Germany was aimed at repairing armament stores so as to make these safe and at providing special trucks for transporting munitions. “The most important aspect is that all the assistance programs were accompanied by the necessary training and certification for the military of the National Army,” stated the Moldovan minister.
With the support of the German Government, about 500 National Army soldiers were trained in different areas. “We highly appreciate the logistical support offered by Germany to the National Mary soldiers who take part in international peacekeeping operations and in projects to develop the capacities of military medicine. The German side’s contribution to creating a safe environment for the population and for the personnel responsible for the management of the National Army’s ammunition stockpiles is as important,” said Anatolie Nosatyi.
