German investments feel well in Moldova, Ambassador Ulrike Knotz

The German investments feel well in the Republic of Moldova. In an interview for Radio Moldova, broadcast in the program “Objective to Europe”, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chisinau Ulrike Knotz said the Republic of Moldova provides many investment advantages, being geographically close to many markets, IPN reports.

Ulrike Knotz said a German company that works in the Balti Free Economic Zone is the biggest employer in the Republic of Moldova. This created 3,000 jobs. The figure is expected to soon double. During 25 years, the German investments for the Republic of Moldova have meant creation of jobs, collection of fiscal incomes and access to new markets.

“The German investments fell well or wouldn’t have stayed here. The Republic of Moldova provides many advantages as a place for investment. It is geographically situated close to many markets. A number of steps have been taken to motivate investors to come and stay in the Republic of Moldova. The Filip Government makes effort for the business people to work better, by reducing bureaucracy. However, there are big problems related to corruption and selective justice,” stated Ulrike Knotz.

Nevertheless, the German investments in Moldova haven’t declined since 2015. On the contrary, there were made new investments, even in a period of political instability.

The interview was given in connection with the celebration of 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Germany on April 30.
