Georgian diplomat summoned after Russian diplomat at Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Foreign Ministry is "deeply dissatisfied" with the Georgian premier's speech about Moldova. After the Russian ambassador went to the MFA in the morning to receive a protest note, the charge of affairs of the Georgian Embassy, David Bochorishvili, came in the afternoon. The envoy conveyed to him "the deep dissatisfaction of the Moldovan authorities with the distorted and inconsistent way in which the Georgian prime minister addresses in his public speech the issue of Moldova's European integration and the electoral process in our country," IPN reports.

The MFA believes that Moldova and Georgia's traditional relations of cooperation and friendship should prevail, as well as the objectives that each of the two countries have in the European integration process.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, stated at the European Political Community Summit in Budapest that serious violations were recorded in the presidential elections in Moldova. The Tbilisi premier called for an investigation into the matter.

Earlier, the Georgian prime minister also said that the European Union had committed an "injustice" when it opened accession negotiations with Moldova, a country "with multiple problems in terms of democracy and the fight against corruption", but not with Georgia.
