On the occasion of the International Youth Day, Prime Minister Ion Chicu transmitted a message, saying that this day is a good occasion for celebrating the importance of the young people as the most important driving force of society and for analyzing the needs and expectations of the young people more profoundly, setting new goals for developing society.

“You are a force that can build the future of everyone apart and of the whole country, as you imagine it. For the purpose, action and active involvement in the social, political and economic life are needed. This is essential for the sustainable development of our society. You are those who generate solutions, efficient recommendations and a new vision. Only this way, we can build a prosperous and modern country. Pursuing this goal, the Government is taking all the measures to increase the quality and available opportunities of the young people so as to offer more development prospects at home, in Moldova,” said Premier Chicu.

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Igor Sharov transmitted a message, saying the young people are the source of energy, courage and talent. They are the future and hope of tomorrow of a developed and modern society. The young people play an important role in developing the democratic and European course of the Republic of Moldova. “We are firmly convinced that the young people are not only the future, but also the present of our country and they represent a valuable resource for development and generation of social changes, for economic development and technological innovations,” stated the minister.

12 August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999.
