General simulation for EPC Summit to be held May 14

The authorities responsible for the security of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit on May 14 will stage a general rehearsal to ensure the proper holding of the international event programmed for June 1, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, security perimeters in the central part of Chisinau will be set up between 9am and 2pm. Afterward, temporary traffic limitations will be instituted on the main arteries in Centru and Botanica districts for the period during which the official columns will travel to the Summit venue. Particular traffic restrictions will be in place on the Bulboaca-Chisinau and Chisinau-Bulboaca routes.

The goal of the general simulation is to improve cooperation at interinstitutional level and to test the integrated security system. The participating forces of the security missions will simulate the solving of tactical situations. An appropriate security and safety level will be maintained by respecting the daily life of all the citizens.

The population will be informed beforehand about the activities held during the simulation and information and maps with the alternative recommended routes to avoid congestion and to facilitate travel in Chisinau and the adjoining areas will be published.

The people are urged to plan the route for May 14, between 9am and 2pm, in advance, by using roads that bypass the Chisinau International Airport and the main arteries of the capital city and also the Bulboaca-Chisinau and Chisinau-Bulboaca routes. Delays and traffic jams will be possible in central Chisinau and in the adjoining areas.
