General Inspectorate for Emergencies hosts exercise to alleviate disaster consequences

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations is hosting a broad exercise to deal with the consequences of disasters, which involve about 150 rescuers and firefighters from the Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine, IPN reports.

Rescuers are carrying out simulated missions within the full-scale field exercise EURO MED REACT 2023 in Răzeni village of Ialoveni district during July 12-14. In the period, international teams are assisting nonstop employees of the Inspectorate to fulfill simulated duties, including to alleviate the consequences of major floods, fires and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents.

EURO-MED-REACT is an EU funded project aimed at aligning European Neighborhood Policy countries in Eastern Europe and the Middle East with the European Union civil protection and crisis management policies and EU tools, through a series of exercises. It implements the vision of civil protection beyond borders.

EURO-MED REACT is designed to provide training and exercise environment to practice and improve national civil response plans and their cooperation with the EU and in crossborder context in case of major emergency or disaster.
