“Gazprom” and “Moldova-Gaz” team up to draft energy projects
Gazprom Russian Concern and Moldova-Gaz Enterprise will work out joint investment projects in the field of energy and will present them to Chisinau Government for consideration, vice chairman of the Administration Council of the Russian concern, Valeri Golubev, mentioned during a meeting with President Vladimir Voronin and Premier Vasile Tarlev.
Golubev said that the signing of the cooperation agreement on gas until 2011 created opportunities to improve cooperation aimed at development and sustainable planning. He mentioned that there will be implemented investment projects designed to build gas pipelines in Moldova.
As Vladimir Voronin states, 70% of the country’s settlements are supplied with gas at present. This process is to be completed by 2009.
The sides have agreed that a detailed plan for investment cooperation and development of the gas supply company Moldova-Gaz will be worked out in optimal terms.
Also, they came to an agreement to find in the near future the optimal solution concerning the liquidation of the historical debts (until 2000) of Moldova for the gas consumption. Tarlev stated earlier that Moldova does not have current debts for gas consumption. As he says, the debts to Gazprom are only those accumulated till 2000 and make up USD 220 mln.
The Russian concern has been earlier invited to take part in the construction of branch pipes and natural gas pipes in Moldova, as well as to investment in the modernising of CETs (Power Distribution Plants), including CET-1 and CET-Nord.
