For the third consecutive year, Alexandru Gatcan was named the best footballer of the year in Moldova. The halfback of Rostov outstripped Alexandru Epureanu and Artur Ionita, IPN reports.

Gatcan was named the best in 2013 too and became the second Moldovan who is nominated the best player the fourth time after Alexandru Epureanu. Alexandru Gatcan, 33, has played for Rostov since 2008.

Gatcan also won one more award at the Moldovan Football Laureates Gala. He was named the best halfback of Moldova. Ilie Cebanu was named the best goalkeeper. Sheriff produced the best fullback, Veaceslav Posmac, and the best striker, Vitalie Damascan.

Milsami Orhei coach Veaceslav Rusnac was named the best coach of 2017.
