Games in which Moldova is involved can pose a threat to peace on the Nistru, opinion

The games in which the Republic of Moldova is involved as regards the relations with the Russian Federation can pose a threat to the peace on the Nistru, said experts invited to the program “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Politologist Ernest Vardanean said all the actions taken by the Moldovan authorities towards the Russian delegation that was to take part in the festivities that are to be held in Tiraspol to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of the peacekeeping mission on the Nistru were planned beforehand. “Moldova should not play foreign geopolitical games and should focus on the own welfare and on economic growth. Inside the Republic of Moldova we are not allowed to deal with the economy and to ensure a decent life for the people. At regional level, we are pushed to violate this fragile peace that was established,” said the expert in political sciences.

Director of the Institute of Diplomatic, Political and Security Studies Valeriu Ostalep said Moldovan authorities’ actions were rather predictable and were orchestrated. “All these cheap provocations, all these elements form part of a large-scale game that involves not only Moldova,”, he stated, adding that this is a problem for Moldova’s interests as  nothing good will happen from economic viewpoint.

Valeriu Ostalep also said that the Republic of Moldova has never been Russo-phobic and will not be. He anticipated that the influence of the Russian language in Moldova will increase during the next few years.
