PAS MP Oazu Nantoi criticized the situation in Gagauzia, saying that the region was taken over by the group controlled by Ilan Shor and is used for political purposes. The statement comes after the Bashkan of Gagauzia Evgenia Guțul was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport on suspicion of use of forgery and fabrication of false documents to justify the illegal funds received from Russia.

"The worst thing is that an atmosphere of intolerance and collective psychosis is created in the Gagauz autonomous unit. Anyone who tries to state their own opinion about what happens in the autonomous unit is harassed, attacked. That is why a false impression that the whole autonomous unit is in unison with Evgenia Guțul is created," the MP stated in the talk show "The Shadow Cabinet" on Jurnal TV channel .

In the same connection, the leader of the Party of Change Stefan Gligor welcomed the prompt intervention of the authorities and the preventing of the Bashkan from leaving the country.

"Guțul is to be charged on new counts related to the use of forgery and fabrication of false documents in order to create the appearance of legality of the illegal money she received from Russia. The Bashkan saw that the joke was turning serious and decided that it was time to flee," said Stefan Gligor.

Oazu Nantoi said that it is necessary to combat the phenomenon of vote buying ahead of the parliamentary elections. According to the MP, this phenomenon must be stopped in order to ensure fair and democratic elections.

"The parliamentary elections are coming. It is absolutely necessary to put an end to this anarchy, this primitive banditry of buying votes. And the ordinary citizens of the Republic of Moldova must understand that they are free to vote for anyone, as long as they do not sell the vote," said MP of the ruling party.

On March 25, Evgenia Guțul was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport while trying to leave the Republic of Moldova.
