The Moldovan Parliament adopted in final reading an amendment to the Fiscal Code whereby businesses in Gagauzia will get their VAT and other tax refunds from the autonomy’s budget, rather than from the national one.
Amounts not covered by the Gagauz budget will be compensated for from the state budget in the next fiscal year.
VAT refunds from the state budget to Gagauz businesses have continuously increased in recent years, with the state refunding a total 640 million lei in the last 5 years.
The new rules will take effect from 1 November.
