While political opinions may differ, Moldova remains our common home, Governor Mihail Formuzal of Gagauz-Yeri stated Sunday, December 23, on the 13th anniversary of the adoption of the Law on Gagauz autonomy. Gagauzia will always be part of the free, democratic, independent and sovereign Moldova. That is why the relationship between the government of the region and the central authorities should be based on a fundamental ideological principle: to defend the interest of the country and its citizens, Formuzal stated. This year, he said, while pursuing this approach, the Gagauz authorities have managed to establish pragmatic relations with the central government. At the same time, there are still some issues that remain to be resolved by making efforts to renounce the last signs of resentment against the actions of the Gagauz administration, since all the preconditions seem to exist today to raise our relationship to a much higher grade. Constructive relations based on openness, mutual trust and close collaboration in the interest of all the citizens may resolve a range of existing problems, from accelerating the pace of economic growth to reintegrating the Republic of Moldova, Formuzal declared.
