After yet another week of constant decreases in fuel prices, today diesel saw another low this year, of 19.83 lei/liter. According to the National Energy Regulatory Agency, the current diesel price can be compared with those of June 2023 and January 2022.
Gasoline prices have also been on the decrease for eight weeks straight, diminishing by 1.90 lei/liter or 7.5%. during this period, standard diesel dropped in price by 2.14 lei/liter or 9.7%.
According to ANRE, current fuel prices are influenced both by the ever-lower Platts quotes, which have reached around $750/tonne for gasoline and $700/tonne for diesel, as well as by the ever-increasing appreciation of the national currency against the US dollar. The official average exchange rate set by the National Bank today was 17.3995 lei for a dollar.
For the next three days, August 31-September 2, ANRE has capped the price of standard diesel at 19.83 lei/liter (-0.05 leu). For 95-octane gasoline, the maximum price will be 23.39 lei/liter (-0.11 leu).
