After a period of constant rises in fuel prices, moderation in prices is expected, with a possible change in the trend, said the National Agency for Energy Regulation. According to the source, Brent crude oil futures fell to $78.2/barrel in the last trading session, indicating a clear downward trend in the market, IPN reports.
The evolution was influenced by various factors, regionally and globally, including U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of an ambitious plan to increase domestic oil production and the request to reduce crude oil prices, the approach being addressed to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
Although fuel prices so far this year increased by more than 1.5-1.6 lei/liter, the latest statistics published by GlobalPetrolPrices show that Moldova remains among the European countries with the lowest fuel prices.
On weekends and Mondays, the price of gasoline will be at most 24.79 lei/liter, up 0.03 lei more than on Friday. Diesel fuel will cost 21.71 lei/liter, by only 0.01 lei more than on Friday.
