Frost on power lines puts the country’s power supply at risk

A layer of ice thick 5-6 cm covered last night the electric lines in the districts of Cahul, Cantermir, Ciadar-Lunga, Vulcanesti and Nisporeni, which affected their operability, Union Fenosa’s PR department informs.
The same source informs that on Friday, January 11, as a result of a damage caused to high tension lines, property of the State Enterprise “Moldelectrica”, over 20 thousand consumers in Cahul and Cantermir districts, serviced by “Union Fenosa”, were left in blackout.
The failure happened at 5:18 pm, when the weight of frost downed a 110 kV power line, property of “Moldelectrica”, leaving 20,406 consumers serviced by Union Fenosa without power supply until 6:15pm the same day.
