As from July 1, the retirement age for women increases by six months. Thus, women will retire at the age of 61. Also, from July 1, the full contribution period for women will be equal to that for men and will be 34 years, IPN reports.

At the moment, women retire at 60 years and 6 months, and the retirement age increases by six months annually. In four years, the retirement age of women will be equal to the retirement age of men. Specifically, from 2028, both men and women will obtain the right to retire at 63 years of age.

The full contribution period for men is 34 years. In the case of women, until June 30, 2024, the full contribution period is 33 years and 6 months. From July 1, it will be equal to that of men and will be 34 years.

For people who do not have a full contribution period, the incomplete pension is calculated. The size of this is proportional to the number of years of internship. People who have a contribution period of less than 15 years are not entitled to a pension. They can only get to an allowance for the elderly, which is equal 50% of the size of the minimum old-age pension.

The right to early retirement for a long career is granted to persons who have completed a contribution period 5 years for men and 3 years for women higher than that stipulated by law. Thus, from July, regardless of age, men will be entitled to early retirement for a long career if they have a full contribution period of 39 years, and women – if they have a full contribution period of 37 years.

From January 1, 2024, persons can request the review of the pension if they continued working after the establishment/review of the old-age pension. From 1 January 2024, disability pensions set until January 1, 2022 are also reviewed, provided that the persons completed a contribution period of 2 to 7 years.

As a result of the 6% indexation from April 1, 2024, the minimum pension for people with the full contribution period is 2,777 lei.
