From January 1, 2025, between 06:00 and 23:00, electricity produced in the country will be traded only on the domestic market. Its export will be banned during this time, except on public holidays and public holidays. This and other decisions were approved by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized that in the current conditions it is important to make full use of the country's own capacities for electricity production and import.

The decision also stipulates that, during the state of emergency, no penalties will be calculated between retail and wholesale electricity market participants in case of failure to meet the payment deadline.

Another approved measure allows the temporary siting of electricity generators on publicly owned land adjacent to private property during the state of emergency without prior coordination. Local public administrations and public institutions that have heating plants running on solid biofuels will use them as a priority.

In order to make efficient use of power generation sources, the capacities for connection to the electricity grid will be unlocked for potential producers who were holders of power plant connection permits and who have completed at least the stage of coordination with the system operator of the implementation project for the respective power plant.

Moldova has been in a state of emergency since December 16.
