Eight of the 53 railcars loaded with iron ore of a freight train travelling from Reni to Galati derailed at the entrance to Giurgiulesti station in the evening of November 4, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure says that the freight train travelled at low speed. The railcars didn’t overturn, but only left the track and stopped on the embankment. A repair train from the Basarabeasca railroad junction was sent to Giurgiulesti to put the railcars back on track.

Experts of Moldova’s Railroad will examine the incident to establish its causes. When the railcars get back on track, the train will continue its road.
