Starting with the next school year, the state will provide free breakfast for students in grades V-IX in secondary schools. Financial sources for this have been provided in the draft state budget for 2025, IPN reports.
The project will be implemented starting September 1 and the estimated budget is 205.8 million lei.
Contacted by IPN, Irina Pociumbanu, a consultant in the Information and Media Communication Service of the Ministry of Education and Research, said that it is planned to provide free breakfast for secondary school students as well. However, the ministry is to draft a regulation, which will be approved later.
Currently, all primary school pupils are provided with free lunch, as well as secondary school pupils from disadvantaged families.
