Fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose to be administered in Moldova

An order will be made to manage the process of administering the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco told a news conference.

“The Ministry of Health asked the National Immunization Council to convene. The Council came together for a meeting several days ago and gave the go-ahead for administering the second booster dose. The technical part is being specified so that it is clear what type of vaccine should be used, what dose should be administered, what categories of people should get this vaccine the first. This way, we will be able to issue a professional order so that neither the citizens nor the doctors have questions. The order will be probably issued in a day or two,” stated the official.

Contacted by IPN for details, Alexandru Botizatu, head of the Reanimation and Intensive Care Department of the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”, said the vaccinated patients much easier went through the disease and didn’t have serious forms. “A vaccinated patient is a protected patient. We didn’t meet with complications related to the vaccine even if we vaccinated over 1 million citizens. We have a considerable number of deaths caused by COVID-19. We are on the alert and monitor the serious forms,” stated the doctor.

According to the specialist, in 180 days of the vaccination, the person acquires protection that diminishes in six months to a year. In six months, the person should normally get vaccinated again.

Recent data show that 3,360 new cases of COVID-19 were record during July 11-17. Eight persons died.  Over 1 million Moldovans completed the two-dose vaccination series.
