Four young men planned October 14 grenade explosion

The authors of the exposition that took place in Chisinau's central square on October 14 last year were arrested. These are four men aged between 21 and 31, who prepared the act of hooliganism beforehand. They were charged on June 11 and face long imprisonment terms or even life, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Friday, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco said the four men - Vasile Zaharov, Evghenii Bujac, Alexei Ganu and Timur Dari - were arrested on June 9 and 10. All of them have a criminal record, while Timur Dari is wanted in Russia over forgery. According to the Prosecutor, the four admitted their guilt and described in detail how they planned the act of hooliganism. In the spring of 2009, Vasile Zaharov took a grenade from Timur Dari, who had it since 2006. On October 14, Vasile Zaharov, Evghenii Bujac and Alexei Ganu went to the Great National Assembly Square. Evghenii Bujac exploded the grenade. The authors of the explosion are liable to 12 to 20 years in jail or life imprisonment for murder attempt, while Timur Dari will be sentenced for keeping and illegality selling munitions. Minister of the Interior Victor Catan said the subdivisions of the Ministry examined dozens of versions and questioned thousands of people. The four men had been shadowed for six months. Their phones had been tapped. The RG-42 grenade was exploded near the Triumphal Arch on Chisinau's Day at 22.08. Several dozens of people were injured.
