Olga Bondarchuk, the former notary of Vlad Plahotniuc, was extradited from Belgium to the Republic of Moldova on Thursday evening. She is accused of falsification of public documents, lying, false conclusion or incorrect translation. After being questioned by prosecutors, she was indicted and remanded in custody, IPN reports.
The General Police Inspectorate said Olga Bondarchuk, who was put on the wanted list and was searched by Interpol, was handed over at the Chisinau International Airport.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the former notary is accused of taking action to ensure the translation and legalization of the documents necessary in the scheme called “bank fraud”, of falsifying public documents, of making false statements to the investigation bodies, including the hiding of notarial actions with regard to nonresident companies of the criminal organization through which money was laundered within the “bank fraud”. She was also charged with artificially creating evidence by falsifying notarial documents.
In April 2021, at the request of prosecutors, the Ciocana Court issued an order for the arrest of Olga Bondarchuk in absentia. Following her extradition and arraigning, she was remanded in custody for 30 days.
Olga Bondarchuk was stripped of the notary’s license after Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco signed an order to this effect on July 14 this year.
