Former judge Vladislav Clima to be questioned in unjust enrichment case

The former president of the Chisinau Appeals Court Vladislav Clima was summoned to go to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office to be questioned as a suspect in the case of unjust enrichment, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on Monday carried out searches in the car and office of the former judge based on an order made by the prosecuting body, after obtaining the preliminary consent of the Council of the Lawyers Union. Objects and documents related to the examined case haven’t been detected.

Currently, the ex-judge is not subject to a measure of constraint.

Vladislav Clima was named president of the Chisinau Appeals Court by a decree signed by Igor Dodon on September 2, 2020, for a four-year term. In May 2021, President Maia Sandu annulled the decree to appoint Vladislav Clima as president of the Chisinau Appeals Court. Later, the Rascani court annulled the presidential decree, while the Presidential Office challenged the decision of the ordinary court in the Appeals Court.

In March, Vladislav Clima tendered his resignation and this was approved by the Superior Council of Magistracy on March 18.
