Former AMN members invite colleagues to join PAD

Ex-members of the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN), currently members of the Democratic Action Party (PAD), are inviting their former AMN colleagues to join PAD. They told the press that AMN’s merger with PLDM was actually a hostile takeover through which PLDM got rid of an important political competitor. According to PAD members, soon after the merger, AMN members were marginalized and gradually removed from important offices, Info-Prim Neo reports. PAD executive secretary Alexandru Lipcan, AMN parliamentarian between 2005 and 2009, said that many of his former AMN colleagues were so disappointed by PLDM, that they quit politics and even left Moldova. Former Deputy Minister of Health and AMN member Mihai Magdei says that AMN members can’t agree with the way Moldova is governed. He referred to the disastrous situation in medicine and other social services and explained that he was removed from the Ministry because of his harsh criticism against the government. PAD deputy leader Natalia Ciobanu stressed that Moldova needed an authentic opposition party, such as PAD. “People who participated actively in politics and were disappointed must know they are not alone and that they can join us. We don’t want leave the governing of the country to those appointed according to schemes of distributing offices and money and we won’t do it”, said the former AMN deputy leader. PLDM spokesperson Larisa Manole said that the party would not comment on the allegations. AMN merged with PLDM in April 2011.
