A Ukrainian citizen was caught at the Otaci border crossing point with a forged Romanian passport. The document had the photo and personal data altered and had been declared lost by the Romanian authorities since 2021. According to the authorities, the man admitted that he had paid 15,000 dollars for the document, IPN reports.
Also at the same crossing point, the border police report that a Turkish citizen was detected with a forged driving license.
According to the authorities, similar situations were recorded at other border crossing points. At Cahul-Oancea and Leuseni, two citizens, one Ukrainian and one Moldovan, were detected with fake driving licenses.
In another incident, at the Leova-Bumbata border crossing point, a man with dual Moldovan and Romanian citizenship tried to cross the border using a falsified car insurance, bearing the name of Green Card. Border guards detected the irregularities and the document was seized for further checks.
The authorities specify that all suspicious documents have been sent for forensic examination and the persons involved are being investigated according to the law.
