Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, met with Germany’s Ambassador in Chisinau Margret Uebber, who took up her duties in Moldova in mid-September. The officials discussed the security situation in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the socioeconomic impact on Moldova and the energy crisis, IPN reports.
“We also referred to bilateral and multilateral subjects and the organization of the next edition of the Moldova Support Platform. Germany’s support is fully felt on our path of accession to the EU,” stated Nicu Popescu, being quoted in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
The official assured the German diplomat of the Ministry’s full assistance in further strengthening the good Moldovan-German relations.
Margret Uebber is the successor of Angela Ganninger. When she took office in Moldova, she said that Germany and the Republic of Moldova are connected by various ways in politics, economy and the civil society sector. According to her, among the relevant examples are the bilateral trade of €700 million last year and the multiple interpersonal contacts established through the agency of exchange or twinning programs.
