For the first time World Bank launched a publication on Republic of Moldova assistance program

Last week the World Bank (WB) launched the first publication on the topic of its assistance program of the Republic of Moldova. The goals of this booklet is not only to describe the partnership between WB and the Republic of Moldova in order to inform about the bank and the undertaken assistance program, but also to promote an informed dialogue and a cooperation between the bank and parts interested in the advancement and improvement of the achieved progress of the Republic of Moldova poverty reduction and economic development. The booklet is a short description of the various assistances offered by WB, from loans and credits to technical assistance, analytic and consulting services, cooperation with the civil society and the local community. The brochure also mentions about the general country development perspectives, the poverty from the Republic of Moldova, about the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Paper (EGPRP), about current WB Assistance strategy (2005 – 2008), projects that are currently being implemented, the WB collaboration with other Moldova’s development partners. The booklet is available for free to all interested persons in the World Bank Public Information Center. WB offers various assistance to over 100 developing countries, including to countries in the transition process of the whole world, such as the Republic of Moldova. Republic of Moldova became member of the WB in 1992. From that moment the bank continuously supported economic and social reforms program through collaboration with local interested parts and development partners with the goal to reduce poverty and improve population’s living standards.
