For the first time Voronin did not bring wine to Putin, as a protest
The president Vladimir Voronin, for the first time during his presidential seat left for Moscow on the Occasion of the informal CIS summit without any bottle of wine or cognac, as protest to the bans imposed by the Russian Federation.
This was the answer of Voronin to the question offered within an interview of the Russian „Эхо Москвы” radio station asked whether he brought or didn’t a bottle of wine to the president Vladimir Putin.
Vladimir Voronin considers that the bans have a temporary character. He supposes that this action is a reaction of Russia to the implementation of the Moldovan-Ukraine customs regime on the Transnistrian border segment, because no one presented to Moldova any documents confirming the bad quality of at least a single bottle of wine or divin.
Moldova did not stop producing wine, on the contrary, 5400 ha of vineyards have been planted, new equipments and European technologies have been implemented. “We are ready to come and we will come on the Russian market with Moldovan wine production, because it is known for a long time and the consumers consider our wines as qualitative”, Vladmir Voronin said.
According to him, Moldova sold a record volume of wine – 380 million bottles in 2005 and it is planned in the future to exceed the number of 1 billion bottles. At the moment the export to Ukraine increased twice, to Poland 4-fold and several fold in Romania. Commerce Centers were opened in several countries in order to promote exports.
Voronin revealed a secret, according to which, in June, Moldovan wines won 6 gold medals at the closed degusting contest that took place within the economic forum in St. Petersburg, although the official interdictions for Moldovan wines were functioning.
“We are ready to examine separately each case, to apologize and to punish the guilty persons, if the technology somehow was violated, but this is not an argument for the existence of a general problem regarding Moldovan wines”, Vladimir Voronin said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
