Moldovagaz CEO Vadim Ceban said that for the natural gas charge for costumers to fall under 13 lei, the gas should be purchased at a price that would be twice lower than the current one. More exactly, 1,000 cubic meters of gas should cost about US$350, as opposed to the average price of US$768 paid during the first eight months of this year, IPN reports.
“The average annual purchase price of natural gas, according to the real volumes and purchase price the last eight months of 2023, is US$768 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas at a time when the current charge is calculated based on the average annual price of US$750 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas,” stated Vadim Ceban.
According to him, given the structure of the current gas charge and the indicators set for 2023, for the charge to be 13 lei, the natural gas in the fourth quarter should cost about US$350 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Vadim Ceban commented on the statements made by energy expert Sergiu Tofilat, who is a member of the Supervisory Board of SA Moldovagaz. The expert believes the natural gas charge in several months will fall under 13 lei. According to him, the charge will be decreased before the heating season and then again in January.
