On Wednesday, September 4, the Football Association of Moldova was appointed as the beneficiary to reconstruct the Republican Stadium. At the same time, the Executive recommended to the City Hall of the municipality of Chisinau to urgently elaborate the demolishing authorization of the distressed constructions and to issue the urbanism certificate for the elaboration of the project’s documentation. The Republican Stadium was constructed back in 1952 and hitherto was only once restored – in 1972-1952. The capacity of the majority of constructions is seriously outdated, morally and physically, which makes impossible the further usage of the stadium, is presented in the informative note attached to the Governmental decision. According to the project, the football field will be completely renewed according to the international standards, including construction of a new surface, irrigation and heating system. Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev declared at the meeting of the Government, that the last year’s press publishing regarding the capital demolishing of the Republican Stadium aimed at adopting a liquidation decision for the venue, and on its place “some groups” planned to construct apartment blocks. In this context, the prime-minister emphasized the fact that authorities have no right “to destroy social objects”.
