Five persons have applied to run independently in elections
Evghenii Nazarenko and Gheorghe Russu Friday applied to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to be registered as independents and preliminarily occupy the 22nd and 23rd positions in ballots, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The preliminary order was set by draw, in accordance with the procedure for registering several candidates during one day.
Under the Election Code, the CEC processes candidates’ documents during seven days. The order in which the candidates will be written in the ballot will become definite after the applicants are registered as election contenders.
The Central Election Commission has so far registered two independent candidates – former Minister of Defense Valeriu Plesca and millionaire Gabriel Stati. Former Communist MP Victor Stepaniuc lodged the documents on October 20. CEC president Eugen Stirbu said earlier that 46 persons have asked for the subscription lists needed to be registered as independents.
